FLOWER BABY BOOTIES

Contrasting color patterns together with flower make this Flower Baby Booties look very adorable and cute while keeping your child’s feet nice and toasty.

MATERIALS

Red Heart Super Saver (100% acrylic 7oz/198g; 364yds/333m); Worsted weight; medium

  • Main Color (MC)
    (0365 Coffee) – approx. 40 yds;
  • Contrast A
    (0373 Petal Pink) – approx. 15 yds;
  • Contrast B
    (0311 White) – approx. 25 yds;

CROCHET HOOK

F/5 (3.75mm) crochet hook, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

GAUGE

15 hdc and 12 rows to 4”/10 cm.  TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

(Note: Be sure to check your gauge before starting to crochet. If the gauge is larger, change to a smaller hook size, or work tightly.  If it is smaller, change to a larger hook size, or work loosely.)

INSTRUCTIONS

Notes:

  1. Instructions are written for the smallest size with changes for larger sizes given in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes.
  2. For ease in working, circle all numbers pertaining to size you’re making.
  3. To avoid mistake(s), count stitches in each round, or row when finished.

BOOTIES

Sole

Rnd 1: With B, ch 11 (13), 3 sc in 2nd st from hook, sc in each of next 8 (10) sts, 3 sc in next st, working on opposite side of ch, sc in each of next 8 (10) sts;
do not join, place marker to mark beginning of rnd; move marker up as you finish each rnd — 22 (26) sts.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc in each of next 8 (10) sc, 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc in each of next 8 (10) sc – 28 (32) sts.

Rnd 3: 2 sc in each of next 6 sts, sc in each of next 5 (6) sts, hdc in next st, dc in each of next 3 (4) sts, 2 dc in each of next 5 sts, dc in each of next 3 (4) sts,
hdc in next st, sc in each of next 4 (5) sts; join with sl st in next sc  –  39 (43) sts. Fasten off. Mark center back of Sole.

Bootie

Rnd 1:  With RS facing you, join MC in back loop of marked sc. Work in back loop of st for this round only. Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in each st around; join with sl st in first sc. Turn – 39 (43) sts.

Rnd 2:  Ch 1 (does not count as st), hdc in each sc around; join with sl st in first hdc. Turn – 39 (43) sts.

Rnd 3:  Ch 1, hdc in each hdc around; join with sl st in first hdc. Do not turn – 39 (43) sts.

Rnd 4:  Ch 1, sc in each of next 14 (16) sts, skip next st, hdc in next st, skip next st, dc in each of next 2 sts, dc2tog, dc in each of next 2 sts, skip next st, hdc in next st, skip next st, sc in each of next 13 (15) sts. Do not join, place marker to mark beginning of rnd; move marker up as you finish each rnd – 34
(38) sts.

Rnd 5:  Sc in each of next 13 (15) sts, skip next st, sc in next st, skip next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, skip next st, sc in next st, skip next st, sc in each of next 12 (14) sts – 30 (34).

Rnd 6:  Sc in each of next 12 (14) sts, (skip next st, sc in next st) 4 times, sc in each of next 10 (12) sts – 26 (30) sts.

Rnd 7:  Sc in each of next 6 (7) sts, sl st in each of next 5 (6) sts, skip next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, skip next st, sl st in each of next 5 (6) sts, sc in each of next 5 (6) sts; join with sl st in first sc – 24 (28) sts.

Note: Ch 3 at beg of rnds counts as dc throughout. When changing color always complete last half of last st worked with next color, keep yarn not used to back of work.

Rnd 8:  Drop MC, join A, ch 3 (counts as dc), skip next st, 3 dc in next st, *skip next st, dc in next st, skip next st, 3 dc in next st *; repeat from * to * around, skip last st; join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

Rnd 9:  Drop A, with MC, ch 3, dc in next space, skip 3 dc * 2 dc in next space, skip next dc, 2 dc in next space, skip 3 dc; repeat from * around, end  2 dc in last space; join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

Rnd 10:  Drop MC, join B, ch 3, skip next dc, 3 dc in next space, * skip 2 dc, dc in next space, skip 2 dc, 3 dc in next space *; repeat from * to * around; skip last 2 dc; join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. Cut B.

Rnd 11:  With MC, ch 3, dc in next space, skip 3 dc, * 2 dc in next space, skip next dc, 2 dc in next space, skip 3 dc; repeat from * around, end  2 dc in last space; join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. Cut MC.

Rnd 12:  With A, ch 3, skip next dc, 3 dc in next space, * skip 2 dc, dc in next space, skip 2 dc, 3 dc in next space; repeat from * around; end  skip last 2 dc; join with sl st to top of beg ch 3.

Rnd 13:  Edging rnd:  Ch 1, work reverse sc in each st around; join with sl st to first reverse sc. Fasten off.

Note: reverse sc – working sc from left to right instead of right to left as usual.

FINISHING

Edging rnd:  With RS, top of Bootie toward you, and center back of Bootie facing you, join A with sl st to remaining front loop of Rnd 3 of Sole.  Ch 1, work reverse sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first reverse sc. Fasten off. Secure yarn to WS.

Work other bootie in same manner.

FLOWER ( make 2)

With A, ch 3, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.

Rnd 1:  Ch 1, work 6 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc to form a ring. Fasten off.

Rnd 2:  Join B with sl st in front lp of any sc, work * (sc, ch 5, sc) in front lp of next sc; rep from * around – 6 petals.

Rnd 3:  Work * (sc, ch 7, sc) in back lp of next sc on rnd 2; rep from * around, join with sl st in first sc – 6 petals.

Fasten off , leaving 12” tail for sewing. Sew Flowers to booties as shown in picture.
